Sirja Jõeveer ‘29
Sirja Jõeveer is a freshman at Harvard College concentrating in Mathematics and Statistics on the Machine Learning track. She is from Miami, Florida, and trained at Miami City Ballet School, where she was cast in professional performances with Miami City Ballet such as George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Firebird, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Circus Polka, and Alexei Ratmansky’s Swan Lake. During her summers, Sirja continued her training at New York City Ballet’s prestigious School of American Ballet for four consecutive years, as well as summer intensives at Miami City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. In recognition of her technique and artistry, she was one of eight ballet dancers in the nation to receive the 2025 YoungArts Award in Ballet (Dance). Combining her dual passions for dancing ballet and playing violin, Sirja cofounded We Dance for Change, a student-run nonprofit that received the Miami Herald's 67th Annual Silver Knight Award in Music & Dance, for its dedication to raising awareness for social causes through the performing arts.
Outside of ballet, Sirja is also a dedicated violinist in Harvard’s Mozart Society Orchestra. She additionally enjoys collecting pink stationery, watching Hallmark movies, and challenging herself with difficult math problems.
