Lucy Qian ‘29
Lucy Qian is a freshman at Harvard College from Clarksville, Maryland, planning to concentrate in Neuroscience on the pre-med track. For the past eight years, Lucy trained under the artistic direction of Jacqueline Akhmedova at the Akhmedova Ballet Academy in Silver Spring, Maryland. She performed leading roles in her school’s annual ballet productions, including Clara and Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Ivan in Peter and the Wolf, Paquita in Paquita, and Fairy Doll in The Fairy Doll. During high school, she was also a part of the River Hill High School Dance Department’s Senior Company. After receiving a scholarship, Lucy attended The Harid Conservatory summer intensive in 2022. In addition to performing in numerous galas and parades, as well as winning top three at many regional, national, and international competitions, Lucy was named a 2024 YoungArts Winner in the Ballet/Dance distinction, won 1st place at the 2025 Universal Ballet Competition Grand Prix Finals in Chicago, and received the Best Female Dancer Award 2x for her performances at the International Dance Talent Competition Italy in Mesagne, Italy. Lucy is so excited for her first year with HBC!
