Karen Perez ‘27
Hi! My name is Karen, I'm from Madrid, Spain. I'm studying abroad in my exchange year as a Junior at Boston College. I have been dancing since the age of four, and at seven I entered a classical ballet academy following the Vaganova methodology -under the artistic direction of Radamaria Nazarenco Duminika, former Principal Dancer with the National Opera and Ballet Theatre 'Maria Bieșu', and the Saint Petersburg Ballet- where I continue my training to this day. From ages 7 to 12, I performed in The Nutcracker alongside the Imperial Russian Ballet and the Saint Petersburg Ballet. To further build a solid foundation in classical ballet, character dance, and interpretation, I attended the Russian Masters Ballet summer intensive for several years. Over the last years i’ve performed soloist repertoire from ballets such as Paquita, La Bayadère, Coppélia, and La Fille mal gardée. Most recently, I joined the professional company European Classical Ballet in their Summer Tour Swan Lake production, performing soloist roles including the Act III Spanish Dance. Dance is an essential, lifelong part of who I am. As I look forward to continuing my professional career on my return to Spain, I’m very excited to continue my training at Harvard, exploring new versions of myself and learning from others.
