Laura Coe '22

Laura Coe is a first year at Harvard College. She was born in Los Angeles, California but grew up primarily in Chatham, New York. Her first form of dance was jingle dress, closely followed by ballet. She joined Berkshire Pulse Performing Arts Program in 2014 in order to do more intensive ballet, pointe, and modern (Graham/Horton/Limón), and explore other genres including Jazz, Contemporary, Contact, and Hip Hop. She has also been part of a program called the Young Choreographer’s Initiative for the past two years which in the process of teaching choreography techniques, aims at using dance to fuel social activism. She has performed at Jacob’s Pillow in José Limón’s “A Choreographic Offering," Ze’eva Cohen’s “Sharing of the Water,” and Compañía Sharon Friedman’s "Free Fall." She is currently a member and choreographer of Expressions Dance Company, and Harvard College Opera, as well as a part of Harvard Breakers on campus. In her free time she likes to explore Harvard and Boston with friends. She loves any opportunity to dance or choreograph and is so excited to be part of HBC this semester!
