Gabriela Escalante '21

Gabby is a sophomore at Harvard College from San Antonio, Texas. She is intrigued by all areas of science and is particularly interested in biology, statistics, and the human body. Gabby’s love for dance began when she was five years old, dancing Spanish Sevillanas with her mother and sister. At age six, she began her ballet education at Ballet San Antonio Academy, later continuing her training at her high school, Saint Mary’s Hall, where she danced in productions of The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake, in addition to performing lead and principal roles in Giselle, La Bayadere, and Coppelia. In addition to ballet, Gabby is an avid modern dancer and improviser, inspired by the styles of Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham. At Harvard, Gabby is fortunate to dance with Harvard Ballet Company and Harvard-Radcliffe Modern Dance Company. When she is not dancing, Gabby enjoys serving as an emergency medical technician with CrimsonEMS, Harvard’s student-run emergency medical service.
