Anna Riley-Shepard '17
Anna Riley-Shepard is from New York City and is a senior in Lowell House studying cognitive neuroscience. She spent her childhood in Vermont and France and started dancing when she was three years old! Her parents signed her up for ballet classes in an attempt to correct her hopelessly flat arches and turned-in hips (and because, like many little girls, she was obsessed with ballerinas and tutus). Anna moved with her family to New York at the beginning of high school, where she trained at the School at Steps on Broadway’s Pre-Professional Program in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, jazz, theatre dance, and hip-hop. The summer before Anna started at Harvard, she attended the Jacob’s Pillow School’s Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance Program, where she realized how much she wanted to keep dance in her life! Anna was so happy to find Harvard Ballet Company – our rehearsals, performances, and community make Harvard a better place for her. Anna has also apprenticed with a contemporary company called Compagnia Zappalà Danza, based out of Catania, Sicily.
